Central United Methodist Church is in the heart of Concord and has a heart for Concord and beyond. See how you can get involved by checking out our Worship Page and Faith Formation Groups.

Missions Allocations Committee
Through the vision of a number of donors and the endowments they have established, Central is able to contribute generously each year to area non-profits. Our Missions Allocations Committee is comprised of church members who meet to evaluate needs and ministry opportunities. Each year, on behalf of the church they determine which organizations we support financially. For a non-profit to be considered, we require that Central members be actively engaged in supporting the ministry through their time and talents, and we require up-to-date financial statements and other documentation.
Backpack Buddies
In partnership with Coltrane Webb Elementary School, we provide food for families in need. We have regular, church-wide collections for food items. A smaller set of volunteers packs and delivers food bags to our families.
Salvation Army Shelter Meals
With other area churches and groups we serve our neighbors at the Salvation Army Shelter for a week at a time on a rotating basis. Check our announcements for opportunities to provide food and or serve.
Healing Shawls Ministry
A number of faithful knitters from Central lovingly make prayer shawls for those in need. Recipients include individuals who are sick, grieving, or isolated. Healing shawls are a physical sign of our love and prayers.
Card Ministry
At Central we reach out weekly to members of our community who aren’t able to be present with us in-person. Volunteers write personalized greetings and check-in to make sure everyone feels the warmth and care of our church family.

Backpack Buddies Food Donations
Please sign up for the items you plan to purchase and bring your donations to the church. You can leave them in the shopping carts by the office or in the narthex.

Please purchase standard sized cans/boxes unless otherwise indicated. No glass containers, please! Your continued support feeds children and their families for the weekend, and we thank you. Because you care, we can share with others.
If you have not participated in Backpack Buddies before and would like to know more, please don't hesitate to call or text either Doris Redding (704) 796-6290 or Margaret Dabbs (704) 791-2806.
