Mr. James Billy "Bill" Nobles, 87, passed away at Tucker Hospice House on June 3, 2010.

A memorial service will be at 1 pm on Saturday, June 19, at Central United Methodist Church with Rev. Andy Langford officiating. The family will receive following the service in the Coltrane Memorial Room.

Bill was born on July 24, 1922 to Oscar Floyd and Verda Virginia Geddie Nobles. He was a veteran of World War II where he served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific. He received a BS degree from American Television Institute in Chicago, Illinois and worked at the American Broadcasting Company in Chicago until his retirement. He was an avid inventor and the proud recipient of a patent for one of his creations. As well as working with electronics, Bill found much enjoyment in gardening.

Bill was an active member in the United Methodist churches in Northbrook, Illinois, Henderson, Nevada and Banner Elk, North Carolina. He served on the Board of Trustees, sang in the choir and participated in foreign mission trips. As a member of Central United Methodist Church in Concord, he participated in the Primetime Group and faithfully attended worship services.

Mr. Nobles is survived by his wife Rae Martin Nobles; daughters, Barbara Elaine Henson of Edinburgh, Scotland and Patricia Nobles Jay of Concord, NC; son, Martin Scott Nobles of Henderson, Nevada; foster daughter, Angela Moreno of Aurora, Colorado; grandchildren, Laura Katharyn Henson of London, England, Chelsie Anne Nobles and Alexander Scott Nobles of Henderson, Nevada, and Shenan Marie Bradshaw of Chapel Hill, NC; and sister-in-law, Eleanor Claire McMichael of Holland, Michigan.
