In addition, Central and other congregations are joining with Wesbury and Wesbury Plaza (Gordon Stallings of Central chairs their Board) to create a community garden for their residents this summer. Central, First Presbyterian, and All Saints Episcopal created the 90-apartment complex 25 years ago to serve older adults in an independent living community.
Our community garden will begin with raised vegetable and flower beds, and over the coming years be expanded. On the Community Impact Day (June 5th), we will need help preparing soil, cutting trees, building a shed, and other tasks related to this project. This will be a great way to reconnect with Wesbury, involve youth and adults with the residents, and teach all of us how to create fresh, local food. Watch the bulletin for more details as this project expands. |
