Concord Rotary Can A Thon
Friday, 02 December 2011 16:27
This year is Concord Rotary's 32nd annual Can-A-Thon to benefit the local Salvation Army winter food pantry. We will be doing our annual collection of food items outside of local Food Lions, Harris Teeters and Wal-Mart Supercenters on Saturday, December 10th from 9:00am to 5:00pm. This is another avenue to assist others with food as you are shopping grab something extra and drop it off as you leave.  More volunteers are needed to man the stores on that day in two-hour shifts.  Attached is a link to the online signup sheet.
This is a great way for students to pick up community service hours for school.  Confirmation back to their schools is provided for those who serve so they get credit. There is a separate signup sheet for students - here is that link:

Impact Day

Impact Day!!!

It's time to put on your red t-shirt and get your hands dirty as we prepare to go out into the community for the second annual Impact Day of Service.  On Saturday, October 1st, we will meet at 8:30am in the Coltrane Memorial Room (basement) for a light breakfast and dedication by one of our pastors before we head out to work at 9:00am.  All service projects will wrap up by lunch time.

This year, we will be sending volunteers to the following locations:

Habitat ReStore (Project Leader:  Dale Irvin) -- Volunteers will be cleaning and reorganizing at the ReStore.  This is where the Youth will be working.

Coltrane LIFE Center (Project Leader:  Katie Warlick) -- Volunteers will weed, spread pine mulch, clean patio furniture, wash transport vans, disinfect interior furniture, and possibly repaint the parking lot.  This is a great site for all volunteers, especially those with school-aged children.

Dresser Assembly (Project Leaders:  Gaye and Don Kelly) -- Volunteers will work in the church basement to assemble five Ikea dressers for the residents of the UMAR Arey House, a group home for mentally-challenged men.

We would love to have a good estimate of how many volunteers to plan for, so please let Gaye This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or Katie This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , know if you are planning on coming.

In addition, the Christian Fellowship Class will be sending volunteers to CVAN, the Mother's and Children's House, and to help some of our older members with special projects.  The Koinonia Class is planning to work with the Methodist Children's Home and the UMAR Arey House, and the Ellen Pemberton Class is collecting items from the Coltrane LIFE Center's wish list.  Please contact Margaret Dabbs (Christian Fellowship), Tamara Ingold (Koinonia), or Jean Johnson (Ellen Pemberton) for more information about these projects.

Now, let's get out there and Make an Impact!
