Upon his retirement, her family moved to Gold Hill Road in Concord. Friends invited them to attend church and as a result, her parents and family accepted Christ and that is when her spiritual development began. She attended Mount Pleasant Elementary and Middle Schools, and then graduated from Northside Christian Academy in Charlotte. She married a young man from her church, and just celebrated 26 years of marriage. In the fall of 1984 at Rowan Cabarrus Community College, she began her study to be a nurse. Upon graduation, she served in a cardiac telemetry unit. With the birth of her first child, she began employment with Cabarrus Pediatric Clinic in Concord. With the birth of her second child, she took a weekend job at Cabarrus Nursing Center in Concord. She then transferred to Rowan Regional, where she has been for 18 years. She is currently the charge nurse (lead nurse) in the Outpatient Surgery Department. She was the 2009 Rowan nominee for the Great Hundred Nurses and won the Customer First Award at Rowan Regional. She also serves on the Health Cabinet in her own congregation. In her home, she and her husband Ricky care for his mother, who is now 87. They have three children; Gabriel 23 (married to Holly), Cara 20, and Lara 15, and are the proud grandparents of two grandsons; Addison, 29 months old and Maddox, 4 months. They live about 20 minutes from Central. She loves music, and sings in special groups, the choir, and plays the piano for some of the special groups at First Baptist Church in Landis. She also plays the organ. She writes and directs an annual Christmas play for our intermediate age group, teaches Middle School girls in Sunday School, and directed Vacation Bible School for 11 years. Her best gift is the desire that God gave her to love and care for others. She is so excited for this new opportunity and to work with people of Central United Methodist Church! |
