Prime Time: Older Adults at Central PDF Print E-mail

At Central, we include adults who are age 55 and older in our older adult ministries.  The older adult ministry at Central is called “Prime Time.”  Prime Time meets every month (except during the summer months of June through August) on the second Wednesday of the month.

  • We have some fun things planned for the coming year! Watch your bulletin for details about our September 8th trip to the Childress Winery and a tour of the Bob Timberlake Gallery in Lexington, NC. Other plans include a trip to Blowing Rock, Christmas at Tanglewood, a meal at King's Kitchen and a museum in Charlotte, and a trip to Charleston. It should be a fun year! Be sure to mark your calendars and check the bulletin and/or the newsletter and join the fun!

Sometimes monthly meetings are held in the church fellowship hall.  At other times, Prime Time plans off-site adventures.  Past adventures have included trips to the Billy Graham Library, Johnson & Wales Culinary School, Levine Museum, Flat Rock Playhouse, and Duke Gardens.  An upcoming overnight trip is planned for Charleston and an area winery.  The group strives to have something that everyone can enjoy during the year.

Prime Time meetings held at the church begin at 10:30 a.m. with a program.  A delicious lunch is served immediately after the program.  Reservations are required by contacting Prime Time’s secretary, Pat Chapel.  The reservation deadline is announced in the church newsletter and in the announcement section of the weekly worship bulletin.  If you are unable to attend the luncheon after making a reservation, Prime Time kindly asks for reimbursement for the meal to cover expenses.  The all-inclusive cost of the meal is $6 (includes entrée, dessert, and beverage).

Prime Time programs vary from month to month but are always geared toward the audience.  Past programs have included Scam-Proofing Your Life by the Better Business Bureau,  information on area resources such as Hinds’ Feet Farm in Huntersville, NC, and a slide presentation from local author and Central church member, Char Solomon, on her book, Tatiana Proskouriakoff: Interpreting the Ancient Maya.

Off-site trips are planned well in advance and cost information is communicated via the church newsletter and the announcement section of the weekly worship bulletin.

Additionally, each member of Prime Time pays monthly dues of $2 per person.  These dues are used to support Prime Time as approved by the Prime Time Planning Committee.
